Kure City (Hiroshima Prefecture), where the Olympic Torch Relay will pass through

Kure is located in the south of Hiroshima Prefecture and has a rich history of prospering as a port city. The Yamato Museum and the Iron Whale Museum, which displays an onshore submarine, are popular tourist spots within Kure. The islands situated near Kure offer old Japanese townscapes, that are part of Japan Heritage, and breathtaking views of the islands themselves whilst being able to enjoy the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea. Due to their mild climate, the islands are well known for their abundance of delicious seafood and citrus fruits.
