Myanmar Athletes visited Host City Tsurugashima and pre-game camp at Josai University
Under 2020 Tokyo Oympic and Paralympic Host Town Project,11 members of Myanmar Athletes visited Host City Tsurugashima and pre-game camp at Josai University from 26th September until 2nd October.
11 members include 9 JUDO,Track and field Athletes and 2 Coaches. On 26th Septembers they were welcome at Narita International Airport by Myanmar Embassy, Tsurugashima city and Josai University officials.
On 27th September, Welcome reception was held at Josai University. President Shirahata explained about Tsurugashima City Host Town project and relationship between Josai and Myanamar. He praised athletes to feel like coming back to“old friend house”during their stay and said he hope this pre-game training with Josai University Athletes and Coach will give significant experience for participation of next year 2020 Olympic. He also expressed his wishes that this pre-game camp will also promote further friendship relationship between Japan-Myanmar, as well as Josai and regional cooperation. On behalf of Athletes, Track and Field Coach Khin Khin Htwe said it is their honor to have this kind of opportunity and they will try their best during the camp to come back to Japan next year for 2020 Tokyo Olympic. In the Afternoon, athletes started their training together with Josai athletes and coaches at Track and Field Ground and JUDO training hall. On 28th September afternoon, Department of Clinical Dietetics and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences gave lecture on Sports Nutrition. Lecture was given by Prof. Ito and supported by students and faculties members. Ahead of Sports and Nutrition lecture Faculties members collaborated with Prof. Thithi Lay of Faculty of Science and Nutritionist of University Food Center on Myanmar foods research to give best nutrition to Myanmar Athletes. Under this Myanmar food and tradition research,4 days lunch menu was coordinated in Japanese style lunch 2days, Myanmar style lunch 1day and Myanmar-Japan style lunch 1day.
Athletes also enjoyed culture exchange events such and Tsurugashima city water festival, sports events at Junior School and Dinner with various regional volunteer communities during their stay.
