Yamanashi Prefecture

Fujiyoshida City has implemented numerous exchange projects with France, its partner nation in the Olympic Host Town program.

One such project, our city’s designation as the Team Camp for the French National Team during the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, involved considerable promotion and marketing to stir excitement locally for both the tournament and the camp.
Prior to the games, a large banner was hung at City Hall and banners were hung along a main thoroughfare running through the city. The project was featured constantly in the city paper and promotional polo t-shirts were created and worn by government employees.

A banner large banner was hung at the entrance of City Hall to attract the attention of local residents and tourists in the area.

The banners were hung to commemorate the one year countdown to the start of the games to raise local awareness of the games and to promote our city’s role as the Team Camp for the French National Team.

【Promotional Polo T-Shirts】

The promotional polo t-shirt was released on the one-hundred day countdown to the start of the games. Government employees were instructed to wear the shirt regularly until the end of the tournament to get the public excited and engaged in the games and to promote the city’s role as the official Team Camp for the French National Team.

The project was promoted in print via magazine, website and flyers. (Photographed: September issue of the City magazine)

We plan a similar campaign leading up to the Tokyo Olympic Games for the pre-tournament training camp for the French National Rugby Sevens.
