Building a Good Relationship with the Czech Republic National Canoe Team

Almost one month training camp for the Czech Republic national canoe team was finally achieved in the Uranouchi bay of Susaki city, Kochi prefecture in the autumn of 2017. Since then, the team has been coming to the same place for camps for three years in a row. As a result, Kochi prefecture has been developing a harmonious relationship with the Czech Republic steadily.

Kochi prefecture, working together with Susaki city office and the Kochi Canoe Association, supported the Czech team for hosting training camps cordially. Consequently, the Uranouchi bay had been highly evaluated by the national team as an ideal training venue for canoeing combined with the reason that it is the inland sea.

Czech Olympic Committee, Czech Canoe Federation, Kochi prefecture and Susaki city have concluded “Memorandum of Understanding regarding the implementation of Pre-training Camps for the Czech Republic National Canoe Team in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games” in April 2019. Accordingly, the acclimatisation pre-training camp in Susaki city for the Czech Republic national canoe team was confirmed.

Czech canoeists were very friendly and gave technical training to junior athletes of Kochi prefecture. They also enjoyed meetup for getting to know each other.

In addition, the Kochi Canoe Association had the joint training camp with the Czech junior canoe team in the Czech Republic in the summer of 2019.

Thus, Kochi prefecture has been connecting a strong bond with the Czech Republic and hopes for continuing exchanges between both countries as the “legacy” of Tokyo 2020 post-Games.
