Privacy Policy

The Foreign Press Center Japan (FPCJ) makes every effort to appropriately handle and protect any personal information about individuals we may acquire through processing applications, handling inquiries, or support for our activities.

1.Compliance with Laws Governing the Protection of Personal Information

The FPCJ will comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and all applicable laws and regulations concerning privacy protection in handling your personal information.

2.Purpose of Use

The FPCJ will use the personal information it has collected to support the reporting activities of foreign press in Japan and send local information from around Japan, with the goal of communicating the reality of Japan to the world and increasing understanding of Japan. Personal information will be used when necessary for such purposes as sending reports of events we have carried out, distributing email newsletters, and requesting support.

3.Acquisition of Personal Information

The FPCJ will collect personal information by appropriate and fair methods. Except for cases when there is a legal exception, the purpose which personal information will be used for will be declared in advance, or the individual will be informed of the purpose soon after their personal information is acquired.

4.Use of Personal Information

The FPCJ, unless given permission by the individual or when a legal exception exists, will not use personal information for any purpose other than that declared when acquiring the personal information. Except when permitted by law, the FPCJ will not disclose personal information to a third party other than a subcontractor without receiving the permission of the individual beforehand.

5.Management of Personal Information

The FPCJ will take appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access to the personal information in our care, as well as preventing its loss, destruction, falsification, or disclosure.

6.Disclosure, Correction, Cease of Use, and Deletion of Personal Information

The FPCJ will quickly respond to requests from an individual (after confirming their identity) to correct, change, cease using, delete, or not provide to a third party their personal information, except when otherwise required by law.

7.Revision of Policy

We will regularly review and improve this Privacy Policy to ensure that appropriate safeguards are maintained in the handling of personal information. Please check when the last update occurred, as mentioned below.
